There is nothing like living like a princess! Well, I was lucky enough to have experienced that first hand a couple of weeks ago when I jetted off with Air Canada to London and Europe. Living like a princess does not have to break the bank either, it just allows you to experience the high end service and amenities of the wonderful Shangri-La brand of hotels.
My trip started off perfectly sipping a cocktail in the Maple Leaf Lounge at Pearson Airport while waiting for my Air Canada flight to depart to London Heathrow. I am always impressed with the service from Air Canada, hence why I am one of their biggest supporters. The comfort while flying, the service and friendliness and of course the peace of mind of feeling very safe.
Once landing in London we were transferred to the tallest sky scraper in Western Europe and the second tallest in Europe, The Shard. Shangri-La The Shard is located on the 34th to the 52nd floor of The Shard and it is spectacular! It is located in the bustling Burough Market which is filled with quaint stores and very old and cool pubs and restaurants along the water. And while staying at Shangri-La, you can swim in the beautiful pool on the 52nd floor and have the most beautiful views of the city. Or you can sip a one of a kind cocktail at GONG bar on the 52nd floor. You would not believe all the concoctions of cocktails they offer!
After experiencing the lovely city of London, seeing Kinky Boots, visiting Jensen’s Gin Distillery, which has the most amazing gin and famous tonic, we took the gorgeous and very comfortable Eurostar to Paris. I would highly recommend the Eurostar!
Once in Paris, we were escorted to the Shangri-La Paris, the former residence of Prince Bonaparte. Wow, what a stunning hotel! And to top it off, it also has a Michelin 2 Star restaurant. I’m not even sure I can put it into words the stunning views of the Eiffel Tower that was right outside my window. Their head concierge pretty much knows everything there is to know about Paris! The service was outstanding and all staff were so attentive to details. This hotel has one of the most spectacular private dining rooms right out of a Princess fairy book tale. WE were treated to a very fine dining experience on our last evening and it was completely out of this world.
There are places in this world that stand out for their beauty, their design, their service, their attention to detail. Most places do not have it all, but I can clearly say without a doubt that both of these lovely Shangri-La hotels had it all and more.
